Three of Wands: On Adventure, Momentum and Instinct

Maria Sprow November 28, 2023

THREE OF WANDS

The Sea Turtle makes their way to the ocean, lead there by the wisdom and direction of ancestors, passed along through generations by spiritual forces so strong they don’t require a physical presence to be followed; it’s instinct. This is a card about progress, momentum and opportunities. You’ve recently taken a big leap or accepted a grand new opportunity that has moved you away from your comfort zone and into a great unknown that has expanded your world. Believe that you’re going in the right direction and stay committed to the journey. Don’t be afraid to let your dreams get bigger. Even if you don’t know exactly where you’re going, you’ve got signs guiding you along the way. You just have look out for them, and figure out which ones to follow as you broaden your horizons and get comfortable out at sea.

IF YOU’RE FEELING BLOCKED:

Perhaps you’ve started a journey, but are not exactly loving it at the moment. You didn’t expect to face difficulties so soon and are maybe feeling overwhelmed by change. But setbacks, frustrations and challenges are all necessary for your journey to spark real growth. Stick with it, and your spirit will evolve. In the meantime, do some soul searching to really dig into what is frustrating you at the moment and how you can fix it. There are always solutions. Maybe you thought you’d be running in a sprint and you’re realizing it’s actually a marathon. Either way, you’re still running; it’s just your training and strategy that has to change. Take things day by day; make sure your daily goals are realistic and achievable. Make it easy to call each day a win, then try to exceed your goals when you can. Journeys shouldn’t be easy or boring, but too much stress and not enough play will only make things harder.

CREATIVITY EXERCISES:

Think about all the different kinds of signs you come across each and every day, from road signs to whatever it is the clouds are telling you. Create your own sign. What’s your soul telling you it should say?

Create a compass for yourself that incorporates the different directions you could take. It doesn’t have to be north, south, east or west, but the different cities, people, mediums and desires that give you direction.

Get inspired by sea turtles. These amazing creatures have existed since the age of dinosaurs and are symbols of wisdom and tranquility around the world, with many mythologies and tales written about their sacred space on Earth.

Create a scrapbook journal (or pages) of your current journey so far. What made you get started? What have you experienced along the way?
