On Ancestry and Purpose
And Living in the Moment
America Must Remain An Agnostic Nation
A few of you might know this about me but many don't... I am a descendent of Martin Luther. I was raised Catholic, but my grandma's maiden name was Luther. Many of my cousins are Luthers (a cousin into genealogy told me about this, I didn't care enough about genealogy to look for myself, but I trust her and I feel it in my core).
Martin Luther led the Protestant Reformation against the Catholic Church, believing that the Church hierarchy was bullshit. He believed that God was found in the scriptures and in people's individual understanding of them. And so it is with this level of rebellion and history in my blood and in my ancestry and in my DNA that I, too, attempt to reform the Church (yes, even those descended from Luther himself, though he wasn't entirely wrong) and offer believers a way to connect with God or your higher power or your purpose - however you want to or don't want to define God (belief in God is not actually necessary for a relationship with God, Atheists and the scientific community just use different words and concepts to describe what could also be called God) - and say this:
God demands I tell you all that the Bible is not God's word, it's full of shit, it's written by the Patriarchy to control people and keep them from thinking for themselves. If Trump's regime executes me for this later (as fascist dictators and the Church are both historically prone to do in times where either are being challenged or questioned), so be it, but what is happening in God's name with the fascist takeover of the Republican Party, is NOT ordained by God. It is NOT God. It goes against God. It is blasphemy. The Republican Party is lead by charlatans and the power-hungry and false idols. Republicans do not worship God. They worship wealth. They worship power. They worship control. They worship money. There is a reason people say money is the root of all evil.
I am just a person, a total nobody, an artist. But I am an instrument of God. God is EVERYWHERE. God is in the trees and the rocks and the mountain tops and the rivers. God is in the clouds, God is in your tears, God is in every drop of matter. You DO NOT NEED someone else to connect with God. God is not trapped in a book. God is in the wind. God is in your heart. God is OMNIPRESENT.
Bad things happen for the same reason everything else happens: because people have free will, with which God does not intervene. And many times, people choose evil, because evil is tempting, evil is easy, evil is rewarded in our capitalist society. The right thing isn't the easy thing, because men made it hard. That's not God's fault. God still has hope and belief in humanity, but God is not going to save us. God made us and gave us all the gifts we needed so that we can save ourselves: our resourcefulness, our faith, our creativity, our hope, our love, our drive, our resiliency, even our limitations are necessary so that we all reach a point where we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Scientists are beginning to understand that we live in an infinite multi-universal simulation; I guess that's because God knew we wouldn't always pull it off. God wanted to give us infinite chances to create the best world imaginable, but THIS is OUR chance, our one world, our one life that these bodies inhabit in this moment. You can talk to God directly and listen carefully and you can know God. Your creativity is a direct connection to God, it is the thing that connects your body to your soul, and your soul is from God.
