A Tale of Two Very Different Bears

An Art for a Cause Work in Progress

By Maria Sprow / Mighty.Beautiful Art Studio

Pukin, The Cruelest Bear

Pukin was an ugly evil bear,
Disliked and feared everywhere
So much so that the other bears were wary
To even try and stop his tyranny.

That’s why the most hated kings
Get away with the most monstrous things --
Like murdering innocent beings
For the nighttime songs they sing.

Cruel kings kill for no other reason
Than profits, power and sadism
Control and the desire to silence
Music, progress and love with violence

With missiles that whistle and scream
Collateral damage nightmare scenes
That only stop when the only sound left
Is the deafening whisper of death.

Pawwington,
The Bear Who Cared

Pawwington was the kind of bear
who read and laughed and cared —
maybe more than others ever could dare,
he was really more a teddy than a bear.

He who would sit with you in the rain
Or hunker down with all of Ukraine
In a hypersonic storm against golliath
And tell tales of fields filled with mammoths

Sunflowers standing together as one
against the radiance of the entire sun
Still blooming in the rainbow after the storm
missiles came and came and came

He’s the kind of bear that protects
the nightingales in the darkest hours
And listens after as they serenade
the spirits of fallen children soldiers

who ever only wanted to be birds and flowers.
