Too much focus is a bad thing. It's obsession. It's sleepless nights.
Don't forget to look outside, don't forget to look behind, to turn away, to see what's around you in different ways.
There's more than one way to see the world.
I was out in my yard taking some photographs the other day, trying to capture the very last bits of my succulent garden before winter takes them away, and as I focused on the plants, I couldn't help but notice that the bokeh the plants created was perhaps even more beautiful than the plants themselves. It was just so soft, so perfect in its dissolution of imperfections. It reminded me of an impressionistic painting, as if the world had turned into a watercolor, all the colors and shapes just running, melding together. I wanted to stay in that world, just for a little bit.
